Bill Gates is absolutely correct in saying that we have to be systematic in our preparation for an epidemic because we have not followed efficiently towards working through a situation previously. There was a lack of resources for the environment as well as a lack of a medical team, which are two defining things one must have.
We’ve been given a possible warning about the future and epidemics to come, and yet it doesn’t seem like preparing for another big event of this nature is at the forefront of too many people’s minds. (Of course we don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes in the scientist community, and there are other pressing matters to attend to as well). It seems as though there are a great many who don’t give the right amount of attention to something until it is an immediate problem. I’m sure many of us are guilty of this is some way, shape, or form. But it’s scary.

It would have been interesting to hear about how these issues played into how we dealt with the most recent Ebola outbreak.
